BALLER MOVE: Add in Deeper Leagues / All Two-Catcher Leagues
ANALYSIS: Caleb Joseph may be baseball's hottest hitter, with a home run in five straight games now after Saturday night's game against the Cardinals, making him the most recent add to our waiver wire sleepers list. The 28-year-old rookie is a career .268 hitter in the minors with just 74 home runs in parts of seven different years, so it is no surprise that he had yet to make it to the majors before Matt Wieters went down with a torn UCL ligament earlier this year. Joseph is currently batting .220 with seven home runs in 150 at-bats, but is 8-for-his-last-8 with 5 HR in his last 5 games. It is highly doubtful that Joseph maintains any significant fantasy value going forward, so don't expect him to be your starting catcher for the final two months of the season, but why not ride him while he's hot? In two-catcher leagues, this is a low-risk option to consider. He can be a solid short-term boost our of the catcher position while he is on this hot streak. Once he cools down, however, he will most likely be nothing more than a reach in very deep leagues.
