Calvin Johnson Misses Practice, Josh McCown Practices and Ben Roethlisberger Questionable

Detroit Lions fans and Calvin Johnson’s fantasy football owners may be alarmed to hear that the wide receiver did not participate in practice on Friday. Megatron is reportedly dealing with an angle injury.

At 30-years-old, Johnson has earned the right to miss a practice here and there. The injury isn’t expected to keep him out of action against the Green Bay Packers in Week 10. He can be considered a WR1 for that contest.

Through eight games this season, Johnson has caught 48 passes for 659 yards and three touchdowns. His fantasy owners may be a bit disappointed in the fact that he hasn’t caught more touchdowns, but he has still been a must start receiver week in and week out.

Cleveland Browns quarterback Josh McCown practiced again on Friday despite dealing with a rib injury. The big question is whether or not head coach Mike Pettine will decide to start McCown or Johnny Manziel. Considering the Browns are last in their division at 2-7 with no chance at making the playoffs, it may be smart to go with Manziel. The team will need to eventually find out if he can become a franchise QB.

Regardless of who starts for the Browns, don’t do something stupid like start them in your fantasy football league in Week 10 against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Browns do not have many weapons on offense, so both McCown and Manziel would be expected to struggle under center.

Through seven games this season McCown has completed 165 of his 254 passing attempts for a completion percentage of 65. He has thrown for 1897 yards and 11 touchdowns with just four interceptions.

Meanwhile, Manziel has completed 43 of his 83 passes for 561 yards and a completion percentage of 51.8. He has thrown four touchdowns and one interception.

In other quarterback news, Ben Roethlisberger is officially listed as questionable with a foot injury for Week 10 against the Browns.

I would consider Roethlisberger’s status for Sunday more doubtful than questionable, especially considering reports indicated he would miss several weeks with the injury when it was first suffered.

I would recommend staying away from starting a Steelers quarterback in Week 10. Even if Roethlisberger plays, he’s too risky to start because we don’t know how healthy he actually is. However, if Big Ben plays – Antonio Brown owners should be happier than anyone. Brown is a points machine when Roethlisberger is under center.
