Cam Newton Making an MVP Case in Unique Way

Cam Newton isn't your normal, everyday quarterback. Not by a long shot. What Newton does is special for a quarterback, and it's getting noticed, as his Carolina Panthers are off to a 5-0 start. The most recent way that Newton has silenced his critics is by taking the Panthers into one of the toughest places to play in the NFL, Seattle, and leading a game-winning drive in Week 6. Newton threw a 26-yard touchdown pass to tight end Greg Olsen with just 32 seconds remaining to defeat the Seahawks 27-23.

Newton's play was strong, as he completed 20-of-36 passes for 269 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions. He also rushed seven times for 30 yards and an additional score. Those numbers aren't going to blow you away like what we've seen from the likes of Aaron Rodgers or Tom Brady, but Newton absolutely is in the early MVP conversation.

The ability of Newton to simply win games is what makes him so special, but the fact that he can beat opponents with both his arm and his legs can't be overlooked when considering him as a serious contender for the award. While he's thrown for 1,078 yards, eight touchdowns and four interceptions, he's also rushed for 225 yards and three touchdowns.

Newton's case is so unique due to the fact that he's never thrown more than two touchdowns in a game and has completed just 55.36 percent of his passes. He's unique, his ability to run has been beautiful for fantasy owners, and he's more than likely leading your fantasy team after you drafted him late, and possibly as a QB2. Regardless, Newton is a real-life MVP candidate, and is well on the way to being an MVP candidate for fantasy teams.
