BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team PPR Leagues
ROSTERED: 0% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: Seven games into his third season as a member of the Washington Football Team, Cam Sims had shown little to no sign of breakout capability, particularly with Washington having so many issues and rotating pieces at quarterback to this point in the 2020 campaign. From Week One against the Eagles through Week Seven against the Cowboys, the 6'5 former Alabama receiver recorded just four catches, four targets, one touchdown, and 61 yards through the air, while the likes of Terry McLaurin, Logan Thomas, and J.D. McKissic got the bulk of the early attention from Dwayne Haskins and then Kyle Allen.
However, even with an insignificant statistical showing against Dallas in Week Seven, Sims did record 61 offensive snaps (88%), after only notching 16 in all prior weeks combined, and stepped right back in to his new higher-leverage role after Washington's bye week, taking part in 40 offensive snaps (74%) this past week against the Giants. This time, Sims delivered, reeling in three of his four targets for 110 yards. Although fellow Washington wide receiver Steven Sims is still adjusting to being back on the field and Dontrelle Inman wasn't active in Cam Sims' career-game, the latter Sims has topped the entire roster in Y/R and catch percentage in his limited sample size, and could be on a clear path to leapfrogging his way to the upper echelon of the depth chart and passing game. Kyle Allen will miss the rest of the season after that gruesome injury this past Sunday, meaning Alex Smith will manifest his unbelievable comeback story at the helm for Washington. Even after a rusty introduction, if you still consider Smith to be an improvement over Allen moving forward, the season's second half looks all the more bright for Cam Sims.
