After winning the AL Cy Young Award in 2014, Corey Kluber failed to maintain an award-winning pace as he finished with an above average line of 9-16 with a 3.49 ERA and 245 strikeouts in 222 innings. This pales in comparison to his Cy Young winning line of 18-9 with a 2.44 ERA and 269 strikeouts in 235.2 innings.
Kluber's 2015, taken as a whole, was still exceptional by fantasy standards. But fantasy team owners will tell you it was a hard field to sow at times. There were extreme highs such as his eight over 10 strikeout games--including his 18 strikeouts against the Cardinals in May--and cavernous lows, such as a huge return of his homer-friendly trend. Kluber falls to 14th in our starting pitcher rankings, a spot ripe for a bargain. If he repeats 2015, he will easily prove his worth as a top 15 starting pitcher. On the other hand, if he makes progress back towards his 2014 play, he'll provide elite performance for only 2/3 the price.
