BALLER MOVE: Add in All Leagues
Owned in 50% of Yahoo, 16% of Fleaflicker Leagues
ANALYSIS: Since making the jump to Cleveland's starting rotation, Carlos Carrasco has been virtually untouchable. In six starts, he has posted four quality outings, with just four earned runs allowed in 38.2 frames tossed, lowering his ERA from 3.88 to 2.69 over that span. Over the last 30 days, his 0.70 ERA is the best in baseball, and he now makes his long awaited debut on our waiver wire sleepers list.
Now a 27-year-old, Carrasco has mustered just a 5.55 ERA over parts of four years in the majors prior to 2014, but his 2.69 ERA so far this year is no fluke. He has greatly increased the use of his slider and relied less on his change-up. As a result, he has an above-average 17% line drive percentage, and just 7.4% of the fly balls he has allowed have cleared the fence. His 2.59 FIP puts him fifth among all pitchers with at least ten games started.
With an awe-inspiring performance at home against the Sox on Sunday in which he allowed no runs on four hits over 8.2 innings, Carrasco has cemented himself as a legitimate fantasy option. Still, he is owned in only half of Yahoo! leagues. As long as he continues to pitch at this level, there is no reason he should not be owned, except for possibly in the shallowest of mixed leagues.
