Carlos Gomez Activated, Return To Brewers Saturday

Carlos Gomez will be activated and return from the DL for the Milwaukee Brewers on Saturday.

The all-star outfielder will start right away as he returns from a strained hamstring that forced him to miss all but eight games this season. The 29-year-old Gomez has been running at full speed and taking part in baseball activities all week, according to MLB.com.

"Already I did my agility and my sprints outside and it's good," Gomez told the Journal Sentinel. "Yesterday I ran the bases and agility and did my lower-body workout, and I feel conditioned and ready physically and mentally to come and play. No more pain."

Brewers manager Ron Roenicke told MLB.com that Milwaukee can activate Gomez on Friday, but decided to give the team’s best player one more day of rest. The question is where he will be placed in the lineup.

Gomez was batting a meager .235 to start the season. Last year he had a .284 BA and hit more than 20 homers with more than 70 RBI.

"I'm going to tell you this: I think Saturday for sure," Gomez told the Journal  Sentinel. "Because I'm tired of watching."
