Carlos Gomez told reporters that he’s “ready to start” Tuesday’s AL Wild Card game against the New York Yankees.
The Houston Astros outfielder has been dealing with an intercostal issue. Gomez said that his ribs are fine and he wants to be out there in the starting lineup after he underwent a workout at Yankees Stadium on Monday.
"The plan is to play tomorrow. I'm ready to start," Carlos Gomez said.

"The plan is to play tomorrow. I'm ready to start," Gomez told The Houston Chronicle. He wants to be out there with his teammates every inning rather than being used as a pinch-runner like he has for the last few weeks. Gomez reaggravated his injury when making a throw on Wednesday, but he said he’s good to go.
"It's a special moment. I know it's been tough for me because I want to do my best. But here we are. We make the playoffs, I can't explain how good I feel because you know, being in the playoffs it's what we're working for the whole year. And here we are,” Gomez said.
The outfielder finished the regular season with a .255 BA, 12 HR and 55 RBIs, although he only hit .242 in 41 games after joining the Astros at the trade deadline.
