ANALYSIS: Colorado Rockies outfielder Carlos Gonzalez has a hit in 10 consecutive games that he has started, hitting a double on Wednesday and Thursday. He has 10 extra base hits this month (including two home runs), knocking in 10 runs, and scoring 18 runs. Gonzalez has a .300 batting average this month and has posted a .488 slugging percentage as well.
While Gonzalez is hitting well this month, he has hit 60% ground balls and has just a slightly above average 32.8% hard hit ball rate. Considering that he has hit that many ground balls, his .373 BABIP is highly lucky and his batting average will likely drop over time. His 18.3% line drive rate this month is not bad, but his 21.7% fly ball rate does explain why he has not hit more home runs.
When he is going good, Gonzalez is a streaky hitter that can go off for home runs in bunches; his 40 homer season in 2015 shows that. Gonzalez is not guaranteed playing time on a daily basis, and usually hits sixth or seventh in the lineup, but still can be a good streamer in a strong Rockies lineup.
