Carlos Martinez is scheduled to undergo an MRI Saturday after he was forced to exit Friday’s game early with tightness in his pitching shoulder.
The St. Louis Cardinals right-hander only recorded one out on Friday before he was forced to leave the series opener against the Milwaukee Brewers. Unfortunately, the NL Central leading Cardinals will lose the All-Star for the postseason.

Martinez has pitched well of late with only one more start scheduled prior to the postseason. The third-year pitcher has a 14-7 record with a 3.01 ERA over 29 starts this season.
Tyler Lyons came in relief for Martinez on Friday. He allowed one run while getting St. Louis to the fifth inning. The Brewers won the game 4-3. With the loss, the Cardinals now have a three-game lead over the Pittsburgh Pirates with eight games to go.
