CBB DFS Lineup Picks - FanDuel Advice: NCAA March Madness Day 3 (3/21/15)

If you play on DraftKings, check out our DraftKings CBB DFS Lineup Picks article instead.

With March Madness finally here, there is nothing better than a little CBB DFS. Many people fill out brackets for the NCAA college basketball tournament, and DFS games have become increasingly popular as well.

Below are our favorite FanDuel DFS picks for Day 3 of the NCAA Tournament, March 21st, 2015. Day 2 was filled with lots of great games, and hopefully today will be just as fun and exciting, including your DFS games on FanDuel.

Editors Note: If you have not tried out FanDuel 1-day fantasy basketball leagues, RotoBaller offers the best bonuses around. Signup and make a deposit for a new FanDuel account, and receive a 100% bonus on your deposit up to $200.

CBB DFS Players to Target

Matt Stainbrook – F Xavier, $6,600

Stainbrook has been on an absolute tear. He has been unstoppable down low as he has learned how to use his wide frame to get incredible position on the post. Xavier has realized this and has recently been running there offense through him in the post. In the first round, Stainbrook dropped twenty points with nine rebounds and five assists. He also has a dream matchup against a much smaller Georgia State team. Look for Xavier to keep looking for Stainbrook down low and look for Stainbrook to continue to put up huge numbers.

Brice Johnson – F North Carolina, $7,500

Brice Johnson has come into his own recently. The very tall, lanky, athletic forward has been playing with a renewed passion recently. Getting blocks and crashing the boards, Johnson’s numbers have been phenomenal. In the first round against Harvard, Johnson did not shoot well at all and his minutes suffered because of it. Look for him to use that lackluster performance as motivation and have a huge bounce back game against a very talented Arkansas team. If Johnson can hit his mid-range, he is almost unstoppable as he has the ball skills to easily get to the hoop.

Michael Qualls – G Arkansas, $8,100

Qualls has the ball in his hands every single Arkansas possession that he is on the floor. He is a great finisher inside as well as a very good drive and kick player. With Utah having great size and potentially being able to shut down Portis, someone else will need to step up and fill the stat sheet for Arkansas. Look for that person to be Qualls as he will be shooting a lot if Portis gets bottled up inside.

CBB DFS Value Plays

Joshua Smith – F Georgetown, $5,900

The UCLA transfer has not had a particularly good season so far. He has an extremely large frame and needs to go back to banging bodies down low and not shooting mid-range jumpers. Smith came into college as an extremely talented scorer and lived up to that for a while. If Georgetown is going to have any chance at beating Utah they will have to feed Smith inside to free up shooters around the perimeter. Look for Georgetown to give Smith every possible opportunity to have a big game and potentially be a huge steal at $5,900.

Jakob Poeltl– F Utah, $5,600

Poeltl is an extremely talented big man, and a large part of why Utah has been so successful this season. At $5,600, Poeltl has a very good chance at giving you four times value. In the first round against an undersized Stephen F. Austin, Poeltl delivered a monster 18 point, 8 rebound, 5 block game in 33 minutes. There is no reason why Poeltl cannot put up numbers like that again as he is a very smart player and always plays within his game. On top of that, his shot selection is excellent.

Kellen Dunham – G Butler, $6,400

Dunham is just a straight up scorer. He has an extremely quick release and is a deadly shooter from behind the arc. Once you come out too far on him because he has drained a couple threes on you he will drive inside and draw a foul. Once he gets to the line, he rarely misses. Notre Dame scores a lot and shoots a lot of threes but they also give up a lot of points and threes which makes this an absolute dream matchup for Dunham. If Butler has any chance, Dunham will score at least twenty points.

CBB DFS Players to avoid

Rondae Hollis- Jefferson – F Arizona, $7,500

Hollis- Jefferson will play a lot of minutes because he is an elite defender, but he does not put up the numbers offensively to justify spending $7,500. Also, Hollis-Jefferson will be shadowing D’Angelo Russell the entire game. Ohio State runs Russell through multiple screens every possession which could cause Hollis-Jefferson to lose his legs and not be an effective shooter. A very good defender, but not a good bargain at $7,500.

D’Angelo Russell– G Ohio State $10,300

Russell is the highest priced guard and that should not be a surprise to anyone. He is arguably the best scorer in the tournament and if he gets hot, he is amazing to watch. With all that being said, Russell has an absolutely terrible matchup. He is not only up against one of the best defensive teams in the country but will almost undoubtedly be going against one of the best individual defenders in the country in Rondae Hollis–Jefferson. Russell will score, but I don’t think he will score enough to justify a $10,300 price tag.
