Yoenis Cespedes is starting in center field and batting cleanup for the New York Mets in Friday's Game 3 of the World Series against the Kansas City Royals.
Cespedes had trouble on the first defensive play of the World Series, which led to an inside-the-park home run for Alcides Escobar. In Game 2, the 30-year-old moved over to left field while Juan Lagares played center and Michael Conforto moved to DH. Since Game 3 is in a National League park, there will be no DH. Lagares has been moved back to the bench while Conforto will start in left field.

Conforto has a .050 this postseason while not producing a hit in any of the two games in the World Series. Cespedes has one hit in 10 at-bats while Lagares has a .368 postseason BA with a 2-for-6 performance in the World Series so far. Despite these numbers, the Mets will go with their Game 1 lineup.
Noah Syndergaard will bat, which could be why Conforto is playing. He’s a lefty and Lagares is a righty. Yordano Ventura is a right-hander, which means the Mets want to stack as many lefties as possible.
