Charles Clay (TE, BUF) - Waiver Wire Pickups

ANALYSIS: If you play in a PPR league and Charles Clay is somehow still available on your waiver wire I'd pick him up and start him this week.  Tyrod Taylor will start for the Bills this week after missing Weeks 6 & 7 with a sprained MCL.  Earlier this year Taylor shredded the Dolphins defense for 277 yards and three TDs.  One of the key offensive players that Taylor utilized in that game was Clay, who had five catches (on seven targets) for 82 yards & a touchdown.

Currently the Dolphins defense is giving up the 14th-most fantasy points to opposing tight ends.  If you dig a little deeper you will find the defense is actually worse than its ranking.  In Weeks 2, 4, & 7 the Dolphins defense faced tight ends that should not be owned in fantasy football whatsoever (Kellen Davis, Marcedes Lewis & C.J. Fiedorowicz).  So for argument's sake I will take those three games out of the conversation.  In the remaining games (with tight ends who should be owned in fantasy football) the Dolphins defense has allowed at least 19 fantasy points (in PPR leagues) to opposing tight ends.  During that span the Dolphins allowed an average of 89 yards, seven catches, and almost one touchdown.

I project that Clay will have similar performance as Week 3 and post an 85-yard game with eight catches.  If Clay is available pick him up and start him with confidence this week in PPR leagues.
