BALLER MOVE: Target around pick ~130 (Current ADP 156 / TE15)
ANALYSIS: The tight end position has long been a shallow one at best. Guys like Graham and Gronk seem to dominate that role on the field, leaving other players in the dust – or so it seems. Guys like that are definitely special, but guys like Charles Clay often slip under the radar. At 6’3”, 255lbs, Clay is a large TE that can catch, and often finds himself being the safety net for Ryan Tannehill. Last season, Clay caught for 759 yards and 6 TDs. These numbers may not be staggering, but Clay is set up to have a bigger role in the offense this season. Tannehill and the Dolphins offense have been running more no-huddle stuff so far in camp, which could benefit a big target like Clay. He also is one of the more prominent end zone targets for Tannehill on that offense, so look for him to get some end zone looks and early. By snagging him a bit earlier than average, you could add a guy with the potential to light up the scoreboard to your team. He is out for the first week of the preseason with a knee issue, but upon his recovery he could definitely be a force. In 12-14 team leagues, Clay has the chance to be a legitimate threat and fantasy starter at the TE position, or at least as a FLEX play in some weeks.
