Analysis: With the unfortunate luck of pitching in Arizona and Milwaukee, Chase Anderson has always been HR prone with a career mark of 1.2 HR/9; and has also always shown fantastic control of the strike zone since his standout rookie season with a career BB/9 of 2.7. So far in 2016 Anderson has started off a bit slower than he is used to with a 4.50 ERA, 4.43 FIP, and a ghastly 1.65 WHIP.
While his WHIP may look horrid, there is a high probability it is due to bad luck. Anderson's opponents currently hold a high BABIP of .375. The theory of poor circumstances is even more strongly supported by the fact that Anderson's percentage of balls in play remains right in line with his career tendencies at 72% and opponents aren't hitting balls for a higher percentage of line drives against him which would otherwise explain the higher BABIP. Once Anderson's fortune starts trending back towards the norm you will see his consistency in strong outings increase in proportional tune.
