BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 30% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: Look, I'm not saying that the Kliff Kingsbury and Kyler Murray combination is destined to be the next Brady/Belichick, but it's undeniable that the Cardinals offense has improved greatly this season after looking atrocious last year, and one way you can tell is that this team now has a fantasy relevant backup running back.
Edmonds played 29 percent of Arizona's snaps on Sunday, so he's not getting a huge amount of chances as he's playing behind star running back David Johnson, but Edmonds took advantage of the chances he did get. He had five carries for 34 yards and also caught a pair of passes for 33 yards and a touchdown.
With David Johnson's ability to motion out of the backfield and into the slot/out wide, we could see more plays with both players on the field moving forward. But even if we don't, Edmonds getting eight or nine touches on a fast, high-scoring offense gives him value in deeper leagues.
And then there's the elephant in the room: In a year where finding quality running backs off the waiver wire hasn't been great, Edmonds is a Johnson injury away from suddenly being a workhorse for this offense. If you're a David Johnson owner, you should have Edmonds rostered at this point. He's shown that he can be effective when he touches the football, so being proactive and grabbing him now can protect you against the disaster that would be Johnson going down.
