Chris Colabello (OF, MIN) - Waiver Wire Analysis

BALLER MOVE: Continue Scouting

ANALYSIS: The 29-year-old rookie has been promoted for the for the fourth time this season. He's a big guy (6-4, 218), best known in the minors for his power-hitting abilities. This season, Colabello has torn the cover off the ball during his time playing for Triple-A Rochester: .314 BA, 76 RBI and 24 HR in 375 at-bats. During his first few major-league stints earlier in the season, Colabello was mostly used in a platoon-role and was given a combined 16 at-bats to prove himself. However, with the Twins falling further out of the playoff race, it isn't unreasonable to expect Colabello to be recalled permanently going forward (fourth time's a charm!). In his first game back on July 19, he started, batting sixth and manning left field. His opening performance was nothing to speak of (0-4, 1 K), but with the possibility of landing a full-time gig, his progress should be closely monitored. The biggest question with Colabello is how his "home-run power" will translate to the major league level. For owners needy in the HR and RBI departments, this is a player who could become a "deep-league" force down the stretch.
