Chris Heston has a big bounce-back start Tuesday for the San Francisco Giants as he struck out 10 en route to a complete-game victory.
After allowing five runs in his last start, Heston (3-3) lowered his 3.38 ERA to 2.91 after the best start of his career. The right-hander was absolutely dominant over a first-place Houston Astros team on the road. Heston now owns a 39/10 K/BB ratio. He retired the final 22 batters he faced.
The Giants pitcher will make his next start against the Cincinnati Reds on Sunday.
Astros starter Collin McHugh (4-1) saw his 11-game winning streak come to an end when he lasted just 4 2/3 innings, allowing seven runs (three earned) and seven hits, according to MLB.com. The Giants scored five times in the fifth to take a seven-run lead.
