BALLER MOVE: Leave on the Waiver Wire
OWNED IN: 25% of Fleaflicker Leagues
ANALYSIS: Prior to the start of the 2016 season, the starting catcher position in Boston belonged solely to Blake Swihart because of his bat and improving defense. But the early struggles of Boston's pitching staff fell on Swihart, ultimately demoting him to Triple-A. Known more for his defense, Christian Vazquez got the call back up to the Show, and should see a majority of the starts behind the plate for the time being.
Vazquez has not shown anything that could be potentially appealing for fantasy lineups, as the Red Sox have traded offense for defensive security. Even in the past Vazquez has not done much at the plate, owning only one career home run to his name. He has started his 2016 stint 3-14 with six strikeouts; four of which came in the same game. Unless he starts reaching base more frequently, he can remain on the wire. Batting eighth doesn't exactly spell run production, and he'll likely lose some at bats to Ryan Hanningan.
