Colby Rasmus recently announced that he wants to be an Astro for the rest of his career. What that tells me about a 29 year old is that his head is in the right place, dedicated to proving that he belongs in Houston. I like Rasmus because he’s a guy that you don’t expect too much from. He will never be a consistent hitter for average, but his consistency is displayed elsewhere.
Home run and RBI totals month to month in 2015:
April - 4 HR’s 9 RBI’s, May - 4 HR’s 8 RBI’s, June - 2 HR’s 9 RBI’s, July - 3 HR’s 10 RBI’s, August - 4 HR’s 10 RBI’s, September - 5 HR’s 10 RBI’s, October - 3 HR’s 5 RBI’s.
To save you the math, all this resulted in 25 dingers and 61 ribbies. It shouldn’t induce an earlier-round draft risk but it’s more than enough to translate into fantasy production. Rasmus, a lefty, has had better success against lefties, and has been more productive jumping on pitches earlier in the count. He should definitely be considered in the later rounds of drafts, as he’ll be a valuable third or fourth outfielder in deeper leagues.
