BALLER MOVE: Add in Deep Leagues
ANALYSIS: Once considered a big time prospect within the Cardinals organization, Colby Rasmus had his best year in 2010 when he hit .276, with 23 HRS, 85 runs scored, 66 RBIs, and 12 steals. That's very solid production. Unfortunately, his numbers have not come close to that since. This year with the Jays, Rasmus is hitting just .221 with 13 HRS, 29 runs scored, 29 RBIs, and 2 steals. Granted, these numbers have been put up while Rasmus missed nearly a month between mid-May and mid-June with a hamstring injury but I don't believe that explains the lack of steals entirely. Every year since 2010, Rasmus has seen his power numbers climb while his speed has dropped. This season has also seen Rasmus strike out 33 % of the time. Yikes. However, Rasmus is hot right now. In his past 7 games, he is hitting .301, with a HR, 4 runs scored, 2 RBIs, and his 2 steals for the season. Rasmus does hit in the Blue Jays lineup which when healthy, should help him to score a decent amount of runs and knock in some runs as well. Also, considering that power is down across the league and his prospect pedigree, Rasmus is still a decent play as your 4th outfielder in deeper leagues.
