Cole Hamels’ next start will be Wednesday against the New York Yankees, according to MLB.com.
The Philadelphia Phillies ace was scratched from his scheduled start on Friday as a precautionary measure because of a minor right hamstring strain. The left-hander will throw his normal between-starts bullpen session on Sunday before officially being cleared for Wednesday assuming all goes well.
Cole Hamels said he will not go on the DL and plans to make his next start next week.

Hamels (5-5, 2.96 ERA) has turned around his season over the last month and a half. In his last eight starts, he’s gone at least seven innings or more in all but one, while allowing two runs or less in those starts. The 31-year-old last had a seven-inning 12-strikout performance against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Sunday.
The Phils lost to the St. Louis Cardinals in a blowout and spot starter prospect Phillippe Aumont allowed six runs on four hits, seven walks in only four innings pitched.
Philadelphia is far out of the playoff-race with a 23-46 record. Hamels could be trade-bait with the trade deadline nearing.
