BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 43% of leagues
ANALYSIS: One of the most popular adds on the Yahoo platform in the last few days, Cole Irvin has allowed just four runs in his last four starts. The 27-year-old lacks high-end velocity, but has plus command of a five-pitch arsenal. He leans heavily on his best offering, throwing his changeup 20 percent of the time.
Irvin doesn't miss a ton of bats, but does a good job of getting ahead of hitters anyway; his 70.% first-strike percentage is fourth among qualified starters. Hitters haven't been able to square him up much thus far, and his low walk rate keeps damage limited when they do. While his profile doesn't leave much margin for error, Irvin's results to this point (3.09 ERA, 1.11 WHIP) will play in any format. He's also got a favorable schedule for the rest of May: the Rays are 23rd in wOBA against southpaws, and he'll also face the Angels (19th) and Twins (14th), with two games against the Mariners (28th) to round out the month.
