BALLER MOVE: Add in All Leagues
OWNED IN: 26% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: With the recent news of Jay Ajayi's torn ACL, he is out for the season which will make Corey Clement and Wendell Smallwood two of this week's top waiver wire adds.
Clement was seeing most of the carries while Ajayi was out a few weeks ago, but with his recent lingering quadriceps injury, it is fair to assume that he might be limited when he returns. Clement has a bigger build than Smallwood which makes him better fit to carry a heavier load between the tackles. There is no guarantee as to which of the two backs will take over more work. It's possible that the team opts for a trade, but as it stands one or both of Smallwood or Clement could come out as extremely valuable.
Smallwood should collect an adequate number of touches for potential owners to utilize him, but will also share opportunities with other members of Philadelphia's backfield. While some touches could eventually be siphoned by Sproles and rookie Josh Adams, the most likely scenario is frequent deployment of both Smallwood, and Clement. Both Clement and Smallwood should be added in all leagues, with a slight edge going to Clement as the longer-term play.
