Michael Cuddyer returned to the New York Mets starting lineup on Monday when they played the Miami Marlins at home.
A ligament issue with the right wrist caused Cuddyer to either sit out or have a pinch-hit appearances here or there. He went 1-for-1 with a walk in two pinch-hits while dealing with the injury. It had been 12 days since the veteran has been in the starting lineup.
Cuddyer played right field and batted sixth as the Mets went for their eighth straight victory. As the season comes to an end, the 36-year-old will likely not start every day because of the depth the team has developed since the trade deadline. On top of the Mets' depth, Cuddyer hasn't produced enough to be a mainstay in the lineup.
In 103 games this season, Cuddyer has a .264 BA with 10 HR and 38 RBI. If he does produce like he has throughout his 15-year career, the outfielder will only make the NL East-leading Mets even better.
