Daily Fantasy Hockey Lineup Picks (12/05/17): NHL DFS Advice for FanDuel, DraftKings

We have a big 10 game slate for tonight, which is normal for a Tuesday, and we have plenty of good options on the board. A few games with totals set at six, so look there for some offense, and find the stacks that you can pair together.

Vegas lines are big when it comes to picking games to target, and that's a good place to start for goalies. When it comes to skaters, goal totals is another main place to start. Usually 5.5 goals is average, so targets games at six, and can look for goalies in games with a total at five.

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy hockey lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on 12/05/17. The lineup picks will range from some of the elite players to mid-priced options and value plays. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to hit me up on Twitter @DFS_Tom. Let's get to it, shall we?

DFS Forwards to Consider

Steven Stamkos - C, TB vs NYI (DK - $7,800, FD - $8,500)

Stamkos is about as safe an option you can get on the slate. He plays on the top forward line and the top power-play unit for the Lightning, who also have the best offense in the league. He does only have one point over his last four games, but as the old saying goes, water always finds it's level. He is due for some positive regression given the amount of ice time he sees. He has 37 points in 26 games this season, along with taking over three shots per game. Stamkos is great for any format if you can get up to price, as he has multi-point upside, especially against team who is allowing over three goals a game, and on the second night of a back-to-back.

Mats Zuccarello - W, NYR @ PIT (DK - $5,500, FD - $5,400)

Zuccarello plays on the third forward line and the first power-play unit, and will be facing off against a backup goalie for the Penguins. This classic Metropolitan division rivalry will get another edition tonight, with both teams looking good. Zuccarello isn't that expensive, and has points in five of his last six games. He is taking over a bit under two shots a game, and is best used in a stack. This game has an over-under of six, which is high and we should see plenty of goals.

DFS Defenders to Consider

Drew Doughty - LA vs MIN (DK - $5,600, FD - $5,400)

Doughty is one of my favorite players to roster in DFS for a number of reasons. First off, he plays a TON of minutes, playing into the mid twenties nearly every single game, and he will be out there against the opposing teams top line. He takes about three shots per game, and is blocking over one shot per game. Doughty can bring in DFS value without scoring a real hockey point, which is always a great to have in a player. He is on the top defensive pairing and the top power-play unit, so he makes a good cash game play if you can get up to his salary.

Esa Lindell - DAL vs NSH (DK - $3,700, FD - $3,900)

Lindell plays on the top defensive pairing and the second power-play unit, so we are getting really solid minutes out of a guy under $4K, which is great value. He blocks over one shot per game, and is taking over 2.5 shots per game. Really, really solid production out of him, and with his price, he is viable in all formats. The savings his brings on a full slate is hard to pass up, and should see plenty of ice time vs the Predators top line.

DFS Goalies to Consider

Semyon Varlamov - G, COL vs BUF (DK - $7,400, FD - $7,400)

Varlamov has already been confirmed as the starter for tonight's game and he is in a good spot. He is at home and a -150 favorite, against the Buffalo Sabres, who are one of the worst teams in the league. They are scoring in the bottom five of the league, and rostering a goalie against them is always a popular option. He has only allowed two goals in each of his last two games, and should be in a spot for his offense to help carry him to a win.
