Welcome to the Daily Fantasy Hockey (NHL DFS) lineup picks article for February 23rd of the 2015/2016 NHL season. Each day we'll be providing you with a handful of forward, defensemen, and goaltender picks for DraftKings and FanDuel GPP and cash games.

There are nine games on the NHL schedule on Tuesday with some terrific matchups full of potential fantasy points.

With the trade deadline a week away we are inching closer to the end of the season. The playoff push has begun with some teams putting forth their best efforts while others are starting to tank and consider moves to upgrade their squads for next season. There can be some terrific value to be found in tanking teams as they seem to give added opportunities to young players. Look for players jumping up in to the top six on their teams and getting more PP time moving forward.

NHL DFS Picks for Tuesday, February 23rd

A couple strategy notes. For cash game construction look for players who can contribute to your score when they are not providing offense. Examples are guys who take a ton of shots, defensemen who block a lot of shots(DraftKings). Also, look for guys who get powerplay time and especially Top 6 forwards. You can find value in players who join a new line due to an injury or just get a promotion and more ice time.

For large field tournaments (GPP's) you want to find payers who have multi point upside and can grab double digit fantasy points. To stack the most upside in your forwards a common strategy is to punt the defense position. This doesn't mean just grab anyone. Try and look for a D man who will be playing more PP time or might get a boost in overall playing time due to an injury.

Let's take a look at some solid plays for today's action.

Ben Bishop - Goaltender, Lightning (Draftkings - $7,800  FanDuel - $8,900)

Terrific option on Tuesday who is coming off back to back wins while stopping 64 of 70 shots in the process. The Lightning will go into this matchup as home favorites on Tuesday to the Coyotes playing on back to back nights.

Steven Stamkos - Center, Lightning (DraftKings - $7,200  FanDuel - $8,000)

The offense has been inconsistent this year but he is currently on a hot streak and should be considered in GPP's tonight. He has scored in three straight games and now has 25 on the season. He provides huge upside as 12 of his goals have come on the powerplay.

Jamie Benn - Winger, Stars (DraftKings - $8,400  FanDuel - $8,700)

The Stars are in a great spot on Tuesday and should be able to provide tremendous offensive value. They are ranked 2nd in overall offense and 6th on the powerplay while the Coyotes are ranked 24th in defense and 27 on the penalty kill. Benn has points in seven of his last eight games and currently sits second in the NHL in points to Patrick Kane.

Jordan Eberle - Winger, Oilers (DraftKings - $5,900  FanDuel - $6,500)

The salary is much more appealing on DraftKings tonight as you don't get punished for his terrible +/- rating. He has provided incredible value since the return of Connor McDavid with 13 points (four on the PP) in 10 games.

Mathew Dumba - Winger, Wild (DraftKings - $4,300  FanDuel - $4,800)

His shot volume recently has helped give him a very stable floor for fantasy at very affordable prices. He has also picked up points in three straight games and has seven points in his last 10 games.
