Daily Fantasy NASCAR: Quaker State 400 Recap

The Quaker State 400 proved to be a quite a challenge on the teams this past weekend. Rain washed out the testing NASCAR had planned for Thursday and also limited drivers and teams to one practice on Friday. The qualifying was cancelled as well. That didn't stop Kyle Busch and the #18 M&M's Toyota from making the right adjustments and dominating Kentucky once again.

He led 163 of the 267 laps after starting in the 9th position. Joey Logano finished 2nd after leading the race from the final restart but was passed by Busch with 18 laps to go. Denny Hamlin, Carl Edwards, and Matt Kenseth finished 3rd to 5th respectively, giving Joe Gibbs Racing a top 5 sweep.

Hats off to NASCAR for the new rules package that they implemented at Kentucky. Creating more down-force on the cars and lowering the rear spoiler led to more "old school" racing. Throughout the entire race you could see racers get right up behind each other and take away the air at the bumper to quickly make a pass. There wasn't one driver who complained about the changes, and most said it was a big step in the right direction. The one area the new package hurt was the brakes. This was clear with the #88 car, as he had issues all race and eventually got into Danica Patrick, making her spin. Overall, the new package's first test was a success. The best drivers, for the most part, made their way to front and were fast all race.

A more balanced strategy this week proved to be the most successful on DraftKings when looking at GPP tournaments. The winning lineup in the $100K Slingshot consisted of:

1. Kyle Busch (33.6% owned)
2. Carl Edwards ( 8.4% owned)
3. Brad Keselowski (33.2% owned)
4. David Ragan (5.4% owned)
5. Trevor Bayne (3.6% owned)

As you can see the lineup had three drivers above $10,000 and two drivers around $8000-$8500. The real surprise was Carl Edwards' ownership below 10% this week. This proved to be the difference this week, as he was the only driver over $10,000 with less than 10% ownership.
