We have switched things up a little bit in our Daily League column. Instead of giving you an exact lineup, we'll be sharing top positional plays with quick analysis about why we like these guys. There is no set budget for these picks, so they may be star-studded... the idea here is to give you some of the best players that are playing at each position.
There are some incredibly hot hitters with great matchups today. Here are some of the best daily plays for May 24, 2013:
Top Hitting Plays:
Miguel Cabrera ($5,600) - Baseball's best player has homered in his last four games and tonight he faces Samuel Deduno, who is pure junk and is bound to get torched by Miggy. Cabrera costs a lot but is worth every penny.
Nick Swisher ($3,600) - He's 3-8 with 2 HRs in his career against Roberto Hernandez.
Billy Butler ($3,600) - Starting either Swisher or Butler at 1B won't hurt you. Swisher has more upside but Butler is the safer play.
Top Pitching Plays:
Scott Feldman ($6,300) - Feldman has been very good this year, earning a 2.19 ERA through 8 starts. He faces a pretty good lineup today against the Reds but has owned them in the past and he comes pretty cheap. Current Reds hit a combined .154 through 39 at bats against him.
Tommy Milone ($7,100) - He's a good pitcher facing a porous offense in the Houston Astros. I'm starting him in most of my 50/50 lineups.
Lance Lynn ($7,400) - Lynn owns both this Dodgers lineup and a nice 3.27 ERA. He will be starting in some of my lineups as well.
