Daily League Fantasy Baseball Lineup Card: May 1, 2013

In the preseason, we brought you Daily League Strategy Part 1 and Part 2. Now, all season long, I will be giving you my advice on whom to start in your daily fantasy lineups. For now, this advice will cater to those who play on Fanduel.  They offer some of the best gaming options for beginners, intermediate, and expert level players. Our job here at RotoBaller is to make your daily fantasy gaming experience a fun and successful one. Whether you are new to the daily fantasy scene or have been playing for years, our columns will be up-to-date and useful for all levels of experience. If you are new to the scene, tweet me at @RotoCole and I will personally show you the ropes. Let’s win together. Ladies (one or two reading this) and gentlemen, here is your late game Daily Fantasy Baseball lineup advice for all games on May 1st, 2013:

Paulgoldschmidt1Humpday Play of the Day: 1B Paul Goldschmidt ($4,400) - Strictly going off BvP stats, Goldschmidt is an unbelievably good against Tim Lincecum. How good? In 14 career at bats, PG has 8 hits, 5 of which were home runs, and he has driven in 10 runs. Tim is striking out more hitters lately, but he is still giving too many free passes and I think PG will make him pay for those tonight.

Wednesday's must sit: OF Nate McLouth ($4,200) - He has been extremely hot lately but he struggles big time against the Harangutang. For his career, he is 3-27 with 11 K. He might be hot enough right now where that doesn't matter but at $4.2K, McLouth is too expensive to roll with tonight.

RotoCole's Lineup Card:

P: Anibal Sanchez ($8,000) - Perhaps I'm chasing his last start a little bit here but he faces a Twins lineup that is really struggling to put up runs. I also think he gets 5-6 runs of run support against Scott Diamond, which should be enough to get the win.
C: David Ross ($2,900) - He went 4-4 in his last game and today he faces struggling lefty Mark Buehrle. Make sure he is in the lineup before starting him, though.
1B: Paul Goldschmidt ($4,400) - The man has Timmy's number. Should be plugged into every lineup.
2B: Dustin Pedroia ($4,300) - Pedroia has been crushing the ball, especially off lefties. I expect more of the same against lefty Buehrle.
3B: Maicer Izturis ($2,200) - At the bare minimum, Izturis is a great play. He is somehow 9-21 in his career against Clay Buchholz.
SS: J.J. Hardy ($2,400) - He is a .250 hitter against Harang in his career but has 3 HRs. If you can get a home run from the SS position for $2,400 then you take that chance.
OF: Jonny Gomes ($2,600) - Apparently when you hit bombs off of left-handed pitching you can be named Jonny without an "H". Seems unfair to all the other Johns and Johnnys out there. Most sites list Gomes as their play of the day and he was close to being ours as well. Plug him in.
OF: Andre Ethier ($2,800) - He is 7-11 in his career against Juan Nicasio with a bomb. SEVEN FOR ELEVEN!
OF: Ryan Braun ($5,200) - Aaron Rodgers's buddy is so expensive, but so worth it! He's the opposite of Josh Hamilton-- it's rare that Braun doesn't come through. Today he'll face some dude named Jeanmar Gomez, and Braun will dominate him.

Today there were four expensive guys I wanted in my lineup no matter how expensive. They were Sanchez, Goldschmidt, Pedroia, and Braun. The cheap price tags on Gomes, Izturis, Hardy and Ethier should allow you to play those guys on any daily fantasy website. Good luck RotoBallers!
