Welcome to the Sunday, June 16th edition of Daily Slivers of the Fantasy Soapbox.
Discussing baseball is as fun as the game itself. It has a way of bringing people together to share different opinions about the sport we all love. A similar action can be done with fantasy baseball where we not only discuss topics but also look to improve our teams as well as the teams of our fellow fantasy baseball enthusiasts. Everyone has their own perspectives which are not to be cast off as frivolous. They should be used as a method of expanding our own knowledge.
In this article, I review the previous day's boxscores and provide my opinion on a variety of topics. Some will be random, some will be fun, and some will be stat-driven. It's a soapbox so I may rant from time to time as well. So without any further delay, below are my thoughts on June 16th. Enjoy them. You can even respond with your own thoughts on Twitter @EllisCan2.

Daily Musings
- Menu Price
- Yordan Alvarez - - - - - - Seasonal
- YA-YA goes yard again (four HR/five games).
- *If you have to ask the price or ask what FAAB you should put down, you can’t afford him.
- It was a weird Friday.
- A dude eating a gallon jug of Mayo at a game?! C’mon. You Mayo people are sick. It’s gotta be Miracle Whip.
- Yankees get the pitcher they needed. Edwin Encarnacion. Yep, you might play six-degrees-of-Kevin Bacon to figure out how this results in a pitcher. Bottom Line: Brett Gardner to lose playing time once everyone is healthy. Clint Frazier’s value takes a hit = More playing time w/trade, but likely less beneficial surroundings.
- Jose Suarez keeps Rays contained 5IP, 3ER, 3K. Good management to pull him(81pitches). TOR next. I’m intrigued.
- Mama Said There’ll Be Days Like This
- Charlie Morton (vs LAA) (4ER, 6IP, 9K). Huh? OAK next.
- Stephen Strasburg (vs ARI) (5IP, 6ER, 5K). PHI next. hmm.
- Aaron Nola (4.1IP, 5ER, 4K). ATL offense is brutal
- German Marquez (5.2IP, 7ER, 8K). Gets the W w/bad taste in the mouth.
- Ian Desmond always gives the Rockies just a little bit of a reason to keep him around. Two HR, nine RBI last two games.
- Back amongst elite. Francisco Lindor w/1.4WAR in last month (6HR, 3SB, .321/.408/.587 slash). Who got him in the second round? Lucky.
- Marte Partay! Dad Joke dud. Ketel Marte continues dominance w/two solo shots off Strasburg. 86% owned. Someone’s too good for a 2B/SS/OF eligible beast w/2.3WAR.
- Max Kepler breakout continues. 17HR. 93.2% contact in zone. 11%BB. 15%K. Impressive.
- Chad Green is a monster opener (two IP, six K)
- Pete Alonso w/ridiculous HR count (22). Sweet-Swingin’ Darryl Strawberry has the Mets record as a rookie(26). Another record bites the dust.
- Framber Valdez is the savior (8K, 2ER, 6IP). GET OUTTA MY EAR! I know it was against the Blue Jays. He is a must starter, every time out! *looks at schedule* Ok, so maybe we will sit him next time out in Yankee Stadium.
- Automessage: Christian Yelich HR (26). I have him in only two of many, many leagues. & I still feel a sense of something’s missing in my life….until I see a little….THUNDAH!! from J.D. Martinez. Four HR in last three days.
- Shawn Kelley & Jose Leclerc shenanigans continue. Stay away.
- Yu Darvish looked great. 7IP, 1ER, 10K. Got me torn inside
- Anthony Rizzo spoils Kenley Jansen's night w/two-run monster fireball over right field wall.
- Frankie Montas, new pitch. Underrated gem. 6IP, 2ER, 9K. 2.85ERA. 18.6%K-BB
- Jean Segura not feeling well? 1HR, 1SB, .208 in two weeks.
- NY RoY Campaign:
- Austin Riley - 11HR, 31RBI, .293AVG, 14.7% Brls/BBE (116AB)

- Victor Robles - 38R, 9HR, 9SB, .234AVG
- Have a great day of Sunday baseball.
- Happy Fathers Day & Single Mothers who act in both roles!
