Zack Greinke has been out of commission since failing to sidestep raging bull Carlos Quentin in his second start of the season. Oley! Greinke will never be a matador in Spain. What he could be however, is back in the Dodgers rotation sometime this week. Greinke threw a bullpen session Sunday and could be joining the rotation by Wednesday. You may be hurting for pitching but I think you may want to give him a start on the bench this week just to see what you have. He came back quickly from his collarbone fracture and may take a start or two to get back up to pre-injury form.
If you need pitching badly, however, it isn’t a bad gamble to take throwing him to the wolves.
More Mitch!
Texas Rangers first baseman Mitch Moreland has been quietly on an offensive hot streak. He has collected 14 hits in his last nine games with five multi-hit games in that span. Moreland is finally getting an everyday opportunity with the Rangers giving him his fair share of ABs versus left-handed pitching and he hasn’t been terrible, hitting .291/.345/.520 through 127 at-bats. Moreland has 6 HR, 14 RBI and has crossed the plate fourteen times.
Set Sale
Lanky Pale-hose starter Chris Sale posted a one hit shut out on Sunday versus the underachieving Angels. He got fresh and flirted with perfection and took it into the seventh. Mike Trout broke up the perfect game with one out in the seventh. Sale did not walk a batter and stuck out seven, he is now 4-2 on the year with a 2.87 ERA, 0.94 WHIP with 49 K in 56.3 IP.
