ANALYSIS: There is nothing like a steady-performing tight end, right? Very right, indeed. But that is 1) a dream or 2) something only Travis Kelce is capable of becoming weekly. That's why you have to ride the hot hand at the position, roster and play whoever comes from a booming week in his last outing, and pray for another good game going his way. Enter Dan Arnold, Cardinals mighty leading tight end.
You know the introductory corollary is true just taking a quick look at Arnold's rostership in Yahoo leagues. That's correct. You will find him Arnold available in your league, no matter its format, depth, or whatever. But Arnold is a 20-PPR-point scorer these days, folks, or at least that is what he did on Sunday facing the Rams.
Arnold's 20.1 PPR points yesterday were the most he's ever scored and 30% of all fantasy points he's scored this season total (66.6). Arnold was targeted three times by QB Kyler Murray, caught two of those passes for 61 yards... and turned both catches into touchdowns. That's the efficiency we seek. This game didn't mark a change in Arnold's usage, though. He's averaging around three targets per game and catching between one and two of those weekly. That's a ridiculously low volume, but here we are when it comes to the tight end position...
The Giants have a thought defense (9th-best) against fantasy tight ends, but after that game, the Cardinals face the Eagles, which are a much softer unit (26th) in W15 before going against the no. 2 such defense in San Francisco's. Given his last performance, you might want to bet on Arnold repeating his exploits. And if he doesn't, a good matchup in Week 15 would still keep his value up for another week. Then, you can safely drop him because that 49ers matchup looks quite terrifying.
