Dan Haren Retires

Dan Haren announced that he is retiring from baseball on Thursday.

The starting pitcher revealed earlier in October that this was his last season. Haren did not appear in any of the nine games that the Cubs competed in this postseason. The 35-year-old announced through his Twitter account that his career is done after the Cubs were eliminated by the New York Mets on Wednesday.

It was a solid 13 seasons in MLB for Haren. He finishes out with career marks that include a 3.75 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 2013/500 K/BB ratio across 2,419 2/3 innings. The right-hander went 153-131 throughout his career along with a 2-0 record over seven postseason appearances.

Haren is an unrestricted free agent who ended up playing for eight different teams throughout his career. He was 4-2 with a 4.01 ERA over 11 starts with the Cubs while also going 7-7 with a 3.42 ERA with the Miami Marlins this season. It was another decent season, but apparently he doesn’t want to give it another run.
