Daniel Jones (QB, NYG) - Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues

OWNED IN: 19% of Leagues

ANALYSISIt looks like a couple of games off the field made wonders for Daniel Jones, right? The rookie came back after handing the reins to Eli Manning in weeks 14 and 15 and he performed as good as ever: 5 (!) touchdowns did he throw while completing 28-of-42 passes for 352 yards averaging 8.4 yards per attempt. It was quite the day for Jones, who finished with a staggering 38.8 fantasy points that I’m sure won some fantasy owners more than one and two leagues this past weekend.

Jones has started 11 games this season, and truth be told he’s been quite nice in his debut season. He’s been able to throw for more than 200 yards in all but three games, has thrown at least one touchdown in every game he has started and has avoided being intercepted in almost half (five) of those games. Although he had a couple of rough outings against Minnesota (14.3 FP) and New England (12.9 FP), those two teams ranked 12th and first against QBs respectively so the outcomes were not that criticizable. Other than those, Jones he’s always finished with at least 16.6 fantasy points, reached as many as 39.6 FP and averaged around 26 FP in his other nine games.

The Giants play Philadelphia in their season finale and the Eagles have struggled against WRs all year long. They rank 15th against QBs also, middle of the pack and profiling as a good matchup for Jones to close out his rookie season. Jones has done enough on the year to be considered a perfectly capable streamer in deeper leagues (and even someone to consider in 12-team leagues too), so don’t hesitate to pick up and play him this weekend if he’s still available. I wouldn’t expect another monster 39-point game, but he shouldn’t have it hard to reach his 25-point average.
