Danny Espinosa (SS/3B/2B/1B, WAS) - Waiver Wire Pickup

BALLER MOVE: Add in NL-only leagues

OWNERSHIP: 4% in Fleaflicker leagues

ANALYSIS: Danny Espinosa has a golden opportunity to reclaim the starting job that was his a couple of years ago. Espinosa nearly went 20/20 in consecutive years with 21 HR, 17 SB in 2011, followed by 17 HR, 20 SB in 2012. He followed that up with three lackluster seasons filled with injuries and horrific batting averages of .158, .219, and .240. Fortunately, the void at SS for Washington provides a chance for Espinosa to get back on track until Trea Turner is ready for the big time.

Don't expect high averages from Espinosa, as his career OBP is .302. He offers help in the two main categories of power and speed. His other main benefit is positional flexibility, as he has played all around the infield. NL-only owners can use him as a plug-and-play option at multiple positions. So far he has shown better plate discipline, drawing four walks in four games. Take advantage of his early season stats, as he may not be in the starting lineup post-All Star break once Turner gets the call.
