Baller Move: Handcuff to Ryan Mathews

Analysis: Darren Sproles is a role-player. He always has been throughout his career. Unfortunately, that title doesn't necessarily equate to value in fantasy leagues. However, with the status of running back Ryan Mathews in question Sproles' value could see a boost.
Sproles has been an important member of an inconsistent Philadelphia Eagles offense. He returns punts, one of which for a touchdown against the New York Jets in Week 3, but has only one other score this season, also against the Jets. That was his highest fantasy scoring week and he is highly dependent on finding the end zone in order to produce substantial numbers for any lineup. Ryan Mathews did not practice on Tuesday, and if he is sidelined due to his concussion Sproles could inherit some of his carries. Although, it's likelier that Demarco Murray's role will increase with quarterback Sam Bradford out in with an injury.
Sproles is more of a receiving back and has carried the ball more than five times in only one game this season. Mathews has excelled in his backup role with six total touchdowns and over 500 all-purpose yards so far this season, numbers that Sproles simply lacks to make him an asset. Even if Mathews doesn't play, Sproles is still a boom-or-bust, touchdown-dependent starter in any league.
