David Freese Diagnosed With Thumb Fractures: Could Be Out 4-6 Weeks

Angels David Freese left Wednesday’s game against the Minnesota Twins after he was hit by a pitch on his right hand, and was diagnosed with a thumb fracture, according to The Los Angeles Times.

The former World Series MVP could miss some time, or even land on the DL, because he was hit on the same hand in the past.

Freese entered the night batting .241 with 11 homers and 43 RBIs. He grounded into a double play in his first at-bat against Pelfrey before the injury. It’s been his worst season of his seven-year career. He’s hit for more power than he has in the past, but his average is at the lowest point it’s been than any other year.

Taylor Featherston replaced Freese as the Angels won 5-2 and their 17th win in 20 games. Anaheim will look for it eighth win tomorrow, and the three-game series sweep over the Twins, before a weekend series against the Texas Rangers.
