David Wright is still a good baseball player, and chances are he can still be productive...when he plays. That is the major issue here; a prolonged DL stint will likely hang over Wright and his fantasy owners like the sword of Damocles in 2016. Spinal stenosis is a serious condition for athletes and one has to wonder when the torque from swinging the bat will cause Wright to have to sit out. As of right now, Terry Collins says that 130 games is the goal for Wright in 2016. It might be a bit of pipe dream, but if that comes to fruition then Wright could be a late round steal in the draft.
Wright gets added value in OBP leagues, but there is upside even in standard leagues. This might be optimistic, but should he make good on the 130 game goal, a 15-10 or 15-15 season could be in the cards. He will bat second for the Mets, and that means he should also be able to provide solid runs scored numbers as well. If you get another good third baseman in the draft, then taking Wright in the later rounds can make a nice complement. Draft with caution though.
