BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 5% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: While Dawson Knox had one of the worst games of his season so far in Week 12, we can’t forget about what he did in the prior two weeks to this one and the state of the tight end position. Sure, Knox finished this Sunday’s game against Denver with just 11 yards on two receptions, but he was targeted just those two times and Josh Allen only completed 15 passes overall. The opportunities just weren’t there for Knox to exploit them.
In his games in weeks 10 and 11, though, Knox ranked as the TE9 in fantasy with 20.7 points combined. That is not a lot, but still enough to rank as a TE1 and a starter in any league no matter its format or depth. Playing time doesn’t seem to be an issue for Knox going forward, as even with Tyler Kroft in the team Knox is still playing two-thirds of the Bills snaps and receiving most of Allen’s attention. Knox is a reliable pass-catcher with 10 receptions in 13 targets (77% catch rate) in his last four games, and he only needs to be targeted more to rack up points.
If you find yourself streaming the position, this week’s game against Dallas should be a good one to pick Knox from waivers and play him. Dallas ranks 25th in fantasy points per game given to tight ends. In his last three games, Knox has reached more than 32 yards in two of them and caught eight combined passes. Dallas has also allowed two touchdowns in that same span, so Knox’s name might come back to the scoring column after he had a TD against Miami in Week 11. Add and play Knox if you don’t have any other tight end available just because the matchup is good enough to try to exploit him, and favor him if you are in a PPR-format league.
