BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 14% of leagues
ANALYSIS: We keep saying over and over again that tight end is a wasteland. A few guys will pop for a week or two, but you really only have six guys that you feel confident starting every week: Travis Kelce, George Kittle, Zach Ertz, Evan Engram, Darren Waller, and (for now at least) Austin Hooper. It makes adding talent at tight end that much more valuable because if you're able to find a guy who can be consistent, or can at least consistently take advantage of positive matchups, you've got a leg up on the competition.
After four games of his NFL career, it seems like Dawson Knox may possess enough of the necessary qualities to make him a solid streamer at the tight end position. After his run after the catch against Cincinnati went viral, everybody knew that Knox was an aggressive runner and didn't shy away from contact. However, his cross-bodied catch on Sunday while falling down near the sideline also showed incredible athleticism and hands. That's a catch very few tight ends can make.
What's more, the Bills seem to be noticing Knox's upside as he saw a season-high 65% of snaps on Sunday. With Tyler Kroft suffering yet another foot injury last week, Knox could be taking this opportunity to cement himself at the top of the Bills' TE chart. In fact, he was on the field for most of the final drives as the Bills were trying to mount a comeback, which shows that they trust him with the game on the line.
The Bills are never going to be a dynamic offense this season, and they've thrown the ball an average of 22 times per game through the team's first four games. That's not going to leave a lot of opportunities for Knox to get in on the fun and is a major reason why he isn't an every-week starting TE in 14 Team Leagues yet. However, the Bills do have challenging games still to come against the Titans, Eagles, Browns, Cowboys, Ravens, and Steelers. If they're down in any of them and forced to throw, Knox will be on the field. He has a solid foundation of skills and as he continues to understand the NFL, he should only become more effective, making him a solid streamer and good bench stash in deep leagues.
