ANALYSIS: The Jacksonville Jaguars offense is on a bit of a hot streak over the past few games, with quarterback Blake Bortles starting to look like a serviceable NFL quarterback. Bortles, according to Jaguars Public Relations Manager Tad Dickman, has completed 71.0 percent of his passes over the past two games for 577 yards, four touchdowns, no interceptions, and a league-leading 121.5 passer rating. Those are good numbers! Bortles put up solid fantasy numbers back in 2015, but those came on a losing team. Seeing him play consistently for a good team is new territory, but it's also territory that can be fruitful for Jacksonville and for fantasy owners. One player who could benefit is Jaguars rookie wide receiver Dede Westbrook.
Westbrook has been targeted 33 times over the past four games, with the rookie finding the end zone for the first time in Week 14 against the Seattle Seahawks. Jacksonville has a very good fantasy schedule coming up too: Week 15 against the Texans and Week 16 against the 49ers. Those two teams played each other in Week 14, with both defenses allowing a 100-yard receiver.
Fantasy owners looking for a deeper league flex option could do much worse than the talented young wide out. Westbrook was a monster in college and has already flashed his potential at the professional level. Jacksonville's defense should shut down the Texans this week, providing the Jags offense with plenty of opportunities. Look for Blake Bortles to loft the ball to Westbrook, who led Jacksonville in targets against Seattle, often.
