deGrom Fires Eight Shutout Innings In Mets Victory

Jacob deGrom delivered a much-needed strong pitching performance to help the New York Mets squeak by the Milwaukee Brewers, which put an end to a seven-game losing streak.

deGrom (8-5, 2.15 ERA) threw eight innings of shutout baseball to end the losing streak for the Mets on Thursday in the finale of the series with the Brew-Crew. Milwaukee had four hits, three of which went for singles. deGrom didn’t walk a batter and struck out seven in the process.

The Mets offense hasn't producing recently, and didn’t do too much on Thursday. Fortunately for New York, it didn’t have to do much with deGrom’s dominance on the hill.

The 27-year-old has put together quite the season despite a slow April and early May. The right-hander’s WHIP dropped to 0.93 while he improved his K/BB ratio to 100/18 over 100 1/3 innings pitched.  deGrom has allowed two runs or fewer in eight consecutive starts. His next outing will be home against the Chicago Cubs.
