BALLER MOVE: Add in Very Deep Leagues, All Keeper Leagues
ANALYSIS: The Yankees' "Killer Bs" never amounted to anything as a starting pitching duo, but while Manny Banuelos has seen elbow trouble ruin his career, Dellin Betances has really come into his own as a set-up man. Standing at an intimidating 6' 8", Betances has always a dominant power pitcher. He can dial his fastball up to 99 mph, and throws in a devastating curveball every now and then to keep hitters guessing. This lethal combination led to 723 strikeouts in 641.1 innings pitched over eight years in the minors, and is continuing to be effective in the majors. Roughly halfway through the 2014 season, Betances has an impressive 1.47 ERA and 0.76 WHIP to go along with an astonishing 78 strikeouts in 49 innings pitched. He is rapidly emerging as one of the best relief pitchers in the game, giving him a place here on our waiver wire sleepers list. If you are in a deep AL-Only league where middle relievers have value, Betances is an absolute must-add. Even in some mixed leagues, if you already have a closer and are looking to add strikeouts (and lower your ERA / WHIP), Betances is the way to go. Also worth noting is his value in keeper leagues, as he very well might be a closer next year with such dominating numbers.
