DeMarre Carroll (SF/PF, BKN) - Week 6 Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add In 14-Team Leagues

OWNED IN: 16% of leagues

ANALYSIS: For years DeMarre Carroll has been a reliable "three-and-D" forward with a career three-point percentage of 36.2% and an upside in rebounding to the tune of 6.4 rebounds per game over the last two years. This year however, having gotten a late start and with just six games played, he has kicked off the campaign on a slow foot (9.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, and zero steals in 21 minutes each game). The biggest issue has been Carroll's apparent rustiness from downtown since returning to active work for Brooklyn. After wracking up five straight NBA seasons with a three-point success rate between 34.1% and 39.5%, "Junkyard Dog 2.0" has made just 27.3% of his 22 attempts from long-range. The good news is that he offers plenty of production in the meantime while interested fantasy basketball managers are patient for him to heat up.

While his 21.0 MP rank just eighth on the team, he ranks fourth on the team in rebounds per game behind Jarrett Allen, Ed Davis, and Rondae Hollis-Jefferson. The key to Carroll maintaining is rebounding production comes from the fact that, as he is being incorporated into the lineup once more, that he still holds a sizable minutes advantage over players that could potentially take that role away from him if they received more playing time such as Kenneth Faried and Davis due to the offensive and perimeter defense upside he offers. While there is no guarantee that Carroll will suddenly start grabbing 1.5 steals per game again, his solid rebounding percentage of 12.7% insures that he will effectively crash the boards in his time on the floor for the Nets, while his sub-par efficiency from three-point land is likely to trend back to normal and can be chalked up to needing a warm-up period.
