Denard Span underwent an MRI on Tuesday after he suffered another back injury over the weekend, according to the Washington Post.
The Washington Nationals centerfielder will see a specialist to pinpoint the cause of the back spasms that have forced him to miss some time during the 2015 MLB season, according to the report.

The 31-year-old started the season on the DL because of the problems with his back. Span only had one at bat on Monday before leaving with the spasms again during the rain delay against the Cincinnati Reds.
When healthy, Span has produced this season. In 59 games, Span has a .304 BA, .798 OPS with 24 BB, 5 HR, 22 RBI and 11 SB. Last season, Span had a .302 BA, .771 OPS, 31 SB and 184 hits.
Span might not land on the DL because of the All-Star break next week. It could give him the much-needed rest as second half of the season nears.
The Nationals sit atop the NL East with a 46-37 record. They’ve been one of the hottest teams in MLB, but they could always use Span’s ability to get on base near the top of the lineup.
