Desmond Jennings will play two more rehab games with the High-A Charlotte Stone Crabs before he returns to the Tampa Bay Rays.
Jennings, 28, has been on the DL since undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery in early June. The outfielder has only competed in 18 games this season in Tampa.
The Rays have won five in a row, and five of their last seven games, as they trail by six games in the American League East and 3 ½ games for the second Wild Card spot. It’s a better time than any for Jennings to rejoin the team, as he can help them in the chase for October.
It hasn’t been the best season for Jennings, when he's actually playes. Throughout his six-year career, Jennings has a career .248 BA with an average of 15 HR and 55 RBI per season, but he can never seem to stay healthy. At the very worst, he will add depth to the Rays roster when he returns.
