Devin Singletary (RB, BUF) - Rookie Running Back Draft Values

BALLER MOVE: Target Around ~80 Overall

Current ADP: ~120

ANALYSIS: Is this the year for Devin Singletary? It is hard to say for sure, but with LeSean McCoy out of the way, it very well could be. One thing we know is the Buffalo Bills are preparing for the future. A future with Josh Allen at quarterback. This means they need a young running back to grow with him as they mature together. This does not seem to be the forte of Gore or T.J. Yeldon as both are older slower.

With the Bills bringing in six new offensive linemen through free agency, the protection for the run game should be much better. With McCoy being released to save cap space, the backfield belongs to Singletary. Gore and Yeldon will get some work, but this is by no means anyone’s back field other than Singletary’s. The full effect of this takeover will likely take into mid-season. But if you have him now, he will be usable until then. After mid-season? He could be one of those league winning players who help you through the playoff push.

Projections are already being thrown around in the fantasy world. Mike Clay of ESPN has adjusted his projections to 13.7 touches per game for Devin Singletary with the release of McCoy. If this is the actual number, this is great for someone whom was drafted as your running back four or five in leagues. If the number is higher, which it likely will be late in the season, you may have this season's James Connor. Or maybe a better comp is 2018's late-in-the-season Derek Henry.

The Bills are getting better as a team, and one thing we know is they want to run the ball. For this to pan out, they will rely on Singletary to prove that just because he may be small at 5’8 and from a small school in Florida Atlantic, he can still produce at a big level.

If you have not drafted yet, the price for Singletary is going to shoot through the roof these final few days. But he is still worth the jump in price as long as it is not out of control. Is he a top 10 back? No. But getting him in the sixth or seventh round is still a solid price for him. And getting a starter in an NFL backfield this late is just what the doctor ordered for fantasy owners who go zero RB whether through choice or opportunity.
