BALLER MOVE: Add in 14-Team Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 3% of leagues
ANALYSIS: In the midst of a rebuilding period, the San Antonio Spurs placed lofty hopes on former Florida State shooting guard Devin Vassell by taking him 11th overall in the 2020 NBA Draft. While his playing time has been low when compared to his teammates, he has still seen 18.2 minutes on average through 15 games, as Gregg Popovich has been spreading the wealth rather deep down the bench. He only collected 57 total minutes over four December contests, but due to necessity, Pop has been calling Vassell's number with greater frequency. In 11 games so far in January, Vassell has played for a total of 216 minutes (19.7 a game) and in that time has tallied 5.8 points, 3.8 rebounds, and a stifling 1.6 steals per game (2.9 per 36 minutes, 3.5% steal percentage on the year), all the while continuing to convert at an efficient rate from three-point territory (10 for 28, 35.7%; 13 for 35, 37.1% on the year).
Over the last five games, Vassell has seen his role enlarge to between 19 and 26 minutes per game, and has successfully kept pace by accumulating 40 points (8.0 per game), 23 boards (4.6 per game), and 10 steals (2.0 per game), while still draining at least one three per game on average with a dip in success rate (31.3%) as he let's them launch at greater volume. On Sunday night against the Wizards, Vassell turned in the best game so far in his rookie campaign, notching 14 points on four of six shooting from deep, four rebounds, two steals, and a block in a bench-leading 24 minutes of play. From his All-ACC final season with the Seminoles, the sharp-shooting and defensive effort comes as no surprise, and even with Derrick White's return looming, Devin Vassell's quick transition from college to the pros offers enticing output for those in deeper leagues.

The deeper a fantasy basketball league, the harder it is to hit a winner with your last few picks. It is also harder to find decent help from the waiver wire if your late-round picks don't do you justice. If you picked up a few stinkers, don't lose hope just yet. I will try to […]

BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues ROSTERED IN: 16% of leagues ANALYSIS: The Hawks are currently the 10th seed in the East but are also tied for 8th and 9th with Brooklyn and Charlotte respectively. BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues ROSTERED IN: 48% of leagues ANALYSIS: If we use common basketball sense, then the New York Knicks and Coach Thibs should try and see what the young guys such as Immanuel Quickley have in them and what they can provide the franchise with ROS, as the NYK are […]
Deni Avdija (SG/SF, WAS): Week 24 Waiver Wire Pickups
BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues ROSTERED IN: 37% of leagues ANALYSIS: One would reasonably think that a player seeing a playing-time boost such as that of Deni Avdija's this month would make said player drop his efficiency numbers. Well, not the case for the Wiz Wing by the looks of it. Avdija has […]
