BALLER MOVE: Target ~180
CURRENT ADP: 248
ANALYSIS: St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Dexter Fowler is hoping for a better season this year than he had last year. 2017 was Fowler's first year with the Cardinals, and he slashed .264/.363/.488 with 18 home runs and 64 RBI, but he was only able to play in 118 games.
Injuries were a bit of an issue for Fowler in 2017 as they have been for a lot of his career. Still, when on the field, he is usually an effective fantasy piece. According to manager Mike Matheny, Fowler is slated to hit first in a Cardinals lineup that should produce plenty of runs. He will also be likely playing in a corner outfield spot this year instead of in center field, perhaps limiting his chances to get injured.
As stated above, Fowler will lead off in a revamped Cardinals lineup that includes new addition Marcell Ozuna and All-Star caliber players in Tommy Pham and Matt Carpenter. This gives Fowler the opportunity to score a bunch of runs and, if he can keep his power up, potentially be a 15 home run/15 stolen base player. Being able to acquire a player with a decent amount of speed and power with 100 run upside at the latter part of the draft is a sound strategy.
